As a result of an away win over Durham and a bowl out victory over Glasgow by two hits to one during July, Edinburgh Under 14s qualified to make their first appearance in the National Finals of the Lord's Taverners Inner Cities Cup which were held from 11th to 14th August. The venue for the Finals, which were being held for the fourteenth time was Arundel, Sussex with a base at the historic Arundel Castle ground.
Both sides had a wealth of talent on display in this match at Largo played on a warm afternoon before a good sized appreciative crowd.

North Edinburgh & East Lothian Under 15s had lost wickets in clusters in declining to 37 for 6 from 16.1 overs at Inverleith on 7th June. However, Struan Robertson (No.6) Ali Thornton (No. 8) Ben Watson (No. 9) dug in to boost the final total to 119 in 34.1 overs thanks to crucial stands of 38 for the 7th wicket (Robertson and Thornton) and 40 for the 8th (Thornton and Watson).
Pentland Under 15 coach Alistair Duncan described his charges' narrow victory over Angus Under 15 at Lochlands, Arbroath as "a battling win over an Angus side built around a nine strong contingent from Arbroath United, including the Scotland Under 15 captain Ross McLean."
