Fair Play Awards PDF Print E-mail

Club Secretaries have been emailed the details of the revised Fair Play awards for this season

Rather than asking clubs to vote for their "favourite" 3 opponents, we are asking for EVERY opponent within a team's division to be awarded a mark on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the highest rating and 1 being the lowest. The criteria for the decision remain unchanged - clubs should award high marks to those opponents who they feel have best demonstrated Fair Play and the Spirit of Cricket, and low marks to those who they believe have failed to reflect these values. As in previous years, all clubs votes will remain confidential. Where two clubs did not play against each other, we would ask that no marks are awarded. This will be accounted for in calculating the winners of the Fair Play award in each division.

The aim of this new system is to enable the committee to identify not only the outstanding clubs, but those who may need some help and guidance as to the Spirit in which it is hoped that East League games are played. Clubs will be advised, in confidence, of their average scores. As in previous years the Fair play award in each division will be presented to the leading club, based on the average scores from their opponents, and no club who fails to register a set of votes will be eligible for the award.

Votes for the Fair play awards should be sent to Tom Rutherford and Peter Kingsbury, and should arrive before noon on Thursday 16th September
